A few years ago, more precisely in 2012, our business commitments have taken us on the road to South America. Although we are extremely good and fluent in Spanish what has favoured our adaptation, as well as every time you go to the unknown, beware of everything – from adapting to a new lifestyle, adopting cultural differences (“mañana” is a modus operandi ), and tasting local delicacies. Soon we realized that our adaptation to everything can be “honoured,” but that our eating habits must be immediately adapted to local customs. Only then did we realize that food greatly affects our level of energy, mood and overall health. Food is literally our fuel – how good the “fuel” you’re consuming, you are more efficient, you feel good and you can normally work in the Peruan’s Andes. Maca, cocoa beans, Chia seeds and Quinoa are just some of the foods we were quickly introduced to our daily meals, and when we’ve started on an eighth hours adventure from the capital Lime to Junina, we’ve even accepted to chew the dried leaves of coca. At the 4,000 meter-high plateau, we were impressed by the neatly cultivated fields of Maca, the ecological production process, as well as the story of this super foodstuff itself. Here, the idea was born that we supply this original super foodstuff to our family, friends and acquaintances. We started looking for partners among the farmers who would breed these excellent foods just for sake of our needs, because on this way, we could only guarantee the originality and quality of such obtained foodstuff.
Still, at first it did not go very smoothly, but some new knowledge always emerged from every difficult situation. So we learned that although there are currently a lot of foodstuffs on our (Croatian) market called super foods, importers of the abovementioned did not even know the exact origin of the goods, where such foodstuffs have grown, where it have been stored, packed because they bought it at one of the major European ports where such goods have already been through custom clearance, so importing into Croatia did not pose a problem. So, when our first direct import of Maca from Peru to Croatia did occur, none of the customs staff knew the tariff numbers or what kind of goods they were dealing with. Step by step, from numerous bureaucratic tricks, we have come to the final product for which not only we can guarantee its origin and quality, but also the process of transport, storage, and packaging. Our Bioandina Maca (Lepidium peruvianum), which we offer today on the Croatian market is an original Peruan product, that was produced, pulled out and dried in accordance to the principle that ancient Inka had once treated the production of Maca, and the whole process of organic production is now controlled by the German control authority CERES. All the Maca what we have so far obtained has passed through the gelatinization process (see more about gelatinization here) to make it ideal for the bio-availability in the gastro – intestinal tract of the human body and to quickly experience all of its super-powers. Namely, a raw Maca is extremely difficult to digest and it causes disturbances in the stomach so it is difficult to consume it raw and find its nutritional strength in the long run. Our Maca has been thermally treated in the way that Inka did it centuries ago, so it is more delicious and tasty, it has better bioavailability, and when packed in 5g bags – it is very simple for instant use. We have been convinced to the power of red, black and yellow Maca, which we now, with due pride can offer to you.
